Established in 1905, the National Association of Funeral Directors represents more than 3,700 UK funeral homes nationwide, UK and overseas suppliers to the profession and overseas funeral firms.
The NAFD Code of Practice sets out the high standard of service that bereaved families may expect in their dealings with a funeral firm member of the National Association of Funeral Directors, including key requirements in respect of price information, estimates, final accounts and marketing.
This ensures that bereaved families can look for the NAFD logo as a symbol of quality and standards when they are choosing a funeral director. Funeral firm members of the Association are bound by this robust Code of Practice, which is strictly monitored by a team of Standards and Quality Managers to ensure compliance.
SAIF was established in 1989 and represents more than 900 privately owned, independent funeral homes across the UK. We work hard within the profession to promote best practice and protect the interests of our members and their local communities.
Along with representing the views of our members at a national and local level we also provide training and education programmes to ensure they continue to meet the highest of standards. By choosing a SAIF member, bereaved families can be assured of a compassionate, professional approach, under pinned by our industry leading Code of Practice.

Competitive and transparent pricing
As an independent firm with community at its heart, we recognise that cost is a big concern for many families. As a result, our prices are very competitive and often lower than larger funeral organisations. The full cost of a funeral (including all third party fees such as those for coffins, catering and flowers) will be clearly explained upfront and we offer a range of payment options.
As a member of SAIF we offer a simple funeral option for families on a low income. This maintains the high standards and dignity you would expect from a funeral but at a lower cost. For those who are eligible we can also help with applications for financial support from the government.
